Ia terkenal untuk menyusun semua lagu sendiri dan lagu untuk penyanyi lain. Pada tahun 1998 ia ditemukan di sebuah kontes bakat di mana ia ditampilkan piano dan keterampilan lagu-menulis.  





Selama dua tahun berikutnya, dia disewa menulis untuk penyanyi Mandarin populer. Meskipun ia dilatih di musik klasik, Chou menggabungkan gaya musik Cina dan Barat untuk menghasilkan lagu yang memadukan R & B, rock dan pop genre, yang meliputi isu-isu seperti kekerasan dalam rumah tangga, perang, dan urbanisasi

Ketika aku masih kecil aku bermain piano, saya kadang-kadang merasa bahagia dan kadang-kadang merasakan tekanan. Kemudian dalam rangka untuk mengambil ujian untuk kelas musik di SMP (guru memiliki kelas dan cukup) id. Yang terakhir alasannya sendiri. 

Dan jadi aku belajar bermain cello, tapi setelah itu saya tetap tidak pergi untuk mengambil ujian. Jadi saya berhenti bermain piano dan cello untuk jangka waktu tertentu. Tetapi secara pribadi aku masih memainkan beberapa lagu-lagu pop (Ini adalah saat ini ketika saya datang ke dalam kontak relatif lebih dengan lagu-lagu pop). Saya mulai memahami melodi dan akord menggabungkan. 
 
Aku merasa sangat senang, santai dan tidak begitu banyak tekanan. Kemudian saya belajar musik di sekolah tinggi. Dan sekali lagi itu baru kontak saya dengan musik klasik. Pada zaman klasik, di pop kali. Sebenarnya saya mulai menulis lagu ketika saya masih di SMP, hanya saja sekarang saya pikir saya pasti buta sebagai burung hantu.

Lagu-lagu Saya pikir sangat diao waktu itu, jika Anda mendengarkan sekarang, mungkin tidak seperti apa yang Anda pikir rasanya. Saya harap saya masih bisa mengagumi diriku di masa depan ketika saya mendengarkan ini 'Album Jay', yang saya pikir sangat diao sekarang.
